The Iñigo Award
The Society of Jesus is pleased to announce the ‘Iñigo Award’ for short films. This prize will be awarded for the first time in 2005 at the World Youth Days in Cologne, Germany, and thereafter every two years at the World Youth Days. The Award is for short films on the general theme of ‘City of God’. Submissions will be welcomed that show, for example, the presence and absence of God in our modern secularized world; and as far as possible, should seek to take into account the twin social dimensions of faith and justice. The short films should reflect the spiritual yearnings and experiences of young people today, using the medium of film.
The ‘Iñigo Award’ will be given to the three best short films. There will be a first prize of 2,500 Euros, with a second and third prize of 1,500 and 1,000 Euros respectively. Additionally, there will be an ‘Iñigo Award’, given by the audience to the film of their own choice (non-monetary).
The ‘Iñigo Award’ will be given on the 19th of August 2005 in Cologne by a representative of the General Curia of the Society of Jesus, Fr. Tom Rochford, SJ, secretary of communication and media.
The prize-winning films—along with other outstanding entries in the competition—will be screened for the duration of the World Youth Days.
